{"id":1310,"date":"2014-05-28T13:25:05","date_gmt":"2014-05-28T19:25:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.rust2.com\/?p=1310"},"modified":"2014-05-28T13:25:05","modified_gmt":"2014-05-28T19:25:05","slug":"identidad-geometrica-by-oswaldo-sagastegui","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.rust2.com\/?p=1310","title":{"rendered":"Identidad Geometrica by Oswaldo Sag\u00e1stegui"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>While downtown this weekend, I stopped to focus on a sculptural installation right outside of the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elpasoartmuseum.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">El Paso Museum of Art<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">\u201cIdentidad Geometrica\u201d was designed by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sagasteguicollection.com\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">Oswaldo Sag\u00e1stegui<\/a> and built by his son Mauricio Sagastegui. \u00a0The abstract sculpture was installed at the entrance to EPMA, in the spot originally home to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Luis_Jim%C3%A9nez_(sculptor)\" target=\"_blank\">Luis Jimenez&#8217;s<\/a> &#8220;Vaquero&#8221;. <\/span><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm4.staticflickr.com\/3729\/14238162336_5de69f7db7_z.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"640\" height=\"427\" \/><span style=\"color: #000000;\">A gift by a local art patron, it fills the void left by\u00a0&#8220;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.elpasotimes.com\/ci_19034675\" target=\"_blank\">Vaquero&#8221;<\/a>. \u00a0<\/span>I miss the old &#8220;Vaquero&#8221; piece. \u00a0It had raw power and emotion, greeting you with a vibrancy that&#8217;s a sharp contrast to &#8220;Identidad Geometrica&#8217;s&#8221; angular geometry.<\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/farm5.staticflickr.com\/4079\/4937329251_d14af2c053_z.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"480\" height=\"640\" \/><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"color: #000000;\">&#8220;Identidad Geometrica&#8221; is a significant piece in its own right. \u00a0At close to 16 ft high, it plays well with the sun as it travels across the the El Paso sky.
