Tuesday night the Plaza Theater hosted Chris Isaak and the Silvertones, \u00a0a first for El Paso. \u00a0We’ve seen him before elsewhere but this was the first time we’d been to the restored theater. \u00a0I’ll have to say, I was quite impressed. \u00a0The sound was\u00a0incredible and the band played flawlessly.<\/p>\n

Hi!, I’m Chris Isaak!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n

There was an\u00a0especially\u00a0amusing instance where in typical El Paso\u00a0fashion a couple was late and getting escorted to their seat in the front row 3 songs into the set. \u00a0Chris joked ” We’ve been\u00a0waiting\u00a0for you,\u00a0until\u00a0now we’ve just been messing around”\u00a0\u00a0Classic!<\/p>\n

Baby did a bad, bad thaang!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n

If you are only\u00a0familiar\u00a0with his hits and not his full\u00a0albums you are missing out. \u00a0He plays the gamut from slow\u00a0ballads to rockin numbers. \u00a0It may have been small size of the venue, but the band was really engaged and there was a lot participation with the audience.<\/p>\n

Kick out the jams, Hershel!<\/dd>\n<\/dl>\n<\/div>\n

Chris played his hits, fan\u00a0favorites and then broke out into a jam session where they covered Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and other Sun Records recording artists. \u00a0He mentioned that they had previously\u00a0recorded at Sun Records for an\u00a0upcoming album.<\/p>\n

They finished up and for the encore out came the famous mirror suit!<\/p>\n
