Several months back (July) I went to a weird site at 3670 Doniphan.<\/p>\n
<\/iframe><br \/>\n<small>View <a style=\"color: #0000ff; text-align: left;\" href=\"https:\/\/maps.google.com\/maps\/ms?msa=0&msid=204600700021198483142.0004b0539fb181900a29b&hl=en&ie=UTF8&t=h&ll=31.809333,-106.549588&spn=0.00031,0.000151&source=embed\">Abandoned Terminal<\/a> in a larger map<\/small><\/p>\n<p>There are a few scattered buildings and a single sign that displays “Terminal” at its top.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/juanoxido\/6283817865\/in\/set-72157627984865390\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Terminal\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6236\/6283817865_a0c8f6ec40.jpg\" alt=\"Terminal\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Terminal, that way<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The few buildings at the back are the only\u00a0remnants\u00a0of industrial activity and they don’t match the age of the other foundation bits and pieces scattered around. \u00a0There are these weird blocks that seem to be marking some sort of station locations set next to train tracks that snake through the property.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/juanoxido\/6284178950\/in\/set-72157627984865390\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Six\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6212\/6284178950_eec5c103cb.jpg\" alt=\"Six\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Six<\/p><\/div>\n<p>The last time I was <a title=\"Abandoned Terminal\" href=\"https:\/\/www.rust2.com\/?p=357\">here<\/a> the main “office” building had been locked up with entry\u00a0accessible only through a hole in the wall.\u00a0A side storage area was broken in to but not very interesting.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/juanoxido\/6283728373\/in\/set-72157627984865390\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Open for business\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6060\/6283728373_a439d0c19f.jpg\" alt=\"Open for business\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Open for business<\/p><\/div>\n<p>This time around the front door had been pried open and the second story\u00a0graffiti was new, overlapping the older tagging. \u00a0\u00a0Once inside I noticed something kind of weird, the walls had sections broken out in\u00a0seemingly random\u00a0spots. \u00a0I also noticed some exposed\u00a0ceiling\u00a0tiles and cut sections of pipe\u00a0insulation on the floor and then it hit me… copper scavengers.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/juanoxido\/6284229306\/in\/set-72157627984865390\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"Plastic fantastic\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6033\/6284229306_f7f9b63308.jpg\" alt=\"Plastic fantastic\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">Plastic fantastic!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>A couple of fake plants and a desk was all that had been left behind. The drawers had been rifled through, though I wager there wasn’t anything to begin with. After walking back out I headed over to the electric station were it was obvious that nothing is going to be going on here for a while.<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 510px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\" Off!\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\" Off\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6215\/6284279310_933c2e9887.jpg\" alt=\" Off\" width=\"500\" height=\"333\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">All Off<\/p><\/div>\n<p>At about this time a white Jeep Liberty with a flatbed trailer drove up behind the building. \u00a0I continued to take pictures,\u00a0waiting\u00a0for some sort of\u00a0acknowledgement for the driver. \u00a0Eventually I got a\u00a0nervous\u00a0“<em>\u00bfQu\u00e9 Pasa?”<\/em> from the driver who was holding some very large bolt cutters. \u00a0I\u00a0approached him with a “<em>Hey what’s up?<\/em>” trying to explain that I was taking pictures because well you know… abandoned stuff is cool. \u00a0Confused, he clearly had no idea what I was taking about and asked if I understood Spanish. I went with “<em>No<\/em>” to make things nice and simple and\u00a0continued\u00a0take pictures but not of him fearing I would spook him further. There wasn’t much was left around to look at except for this nice canister:<\/p>\n<div style=\"width: 343px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.flickr.com\/photos\/juanoxido\/6284307884\/in\/set-72157627984865390\/\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" title=\"RUST!\" src=\"http:\/\/farm7.static.flickr.com\/6231\/6284307884_be243c22ef.jpg\" alt=\"RUST!\" width=\"333\" height=\"500\" \/><\/a><p class=\"wp-caption-text\">RUST!<\/p><\/div>\n<p>I headed out leaving the\u00a0scavenger\u00a0behind, I guess there was still some copper to be had that he wanted. Recycling is all the rage right now, so I guess he can be considered to be doing his part for the environment???
